Mechanisms that will assist in reducing the risk of attacks, especially rape, on women in Taraba State has been put in place by Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP).

Among the mechanisms, as made known by the leadership of the group, is building women’s capacity on alternative fuelwood sources.

At a seven-day workshop for women affinity groups, yesterday, in Bali Local Council, the state coordinator, Isaac Yarafa, said “the training has the potential of reducing the risk of attack and rape of our women, who enter the bush to cut firewood.”

More to that, the exercise, if successfully completed, he added, will go a long way to reduce the risk associated with some health challenges arising from the smoke that comes from firewood.
