Group roots for female Reps speaker
Ahead of inauguration of the 10th Assembly, Women of Worth Africa (WOW Africa) has rooted for emergence of a female Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Led by Mrs. Ginika Tor, the group, in a statement, argued that having a woman as the presiding officer of the lower legislative chamber would bridge the current gender deficit at the National Assembly.
The advocacy, it noted, would augment the dwindling number and poor representation of women in key political positions.
The organisation, therefore, urged members-elect to back the Umunachi Osu-Ama, Isiala Mbano Council, Imo State native, Princess Miriam Onuoha, for the seat for improved performance and executive-legislative relationship.
