The Country Director of Global Peace Foundation (GPF), Rev. John Hayab, has admonished politicians and other stakeholders in Kaduna State against violence during the coming general elections, urging them to be guided by rules of the game, for democracy to thrive in the country.

Hayab, who is also the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), commended members of the Kaduna State Peace and Mediation Committee (KSPMC) for making themselves available for the task of working towards peaceful and violence-free elections in the state and Nigeria.

He said: “Your inauguration today to serve on the KSPMC is a call to duty, which requires a high level of commitment and sacrifice from all of us as our gathering is, no doubt, an indication that we are ready for the task ahead.

“For the records, the onerous task ahead is to ensure a violence-free election in our state given the sad history of massive losses that have been associated with election violence.”

The GPF Country Director observed that “while the long-awaited 2023 general election is here, what is essential is for us to swing into action towards ensuring all forms of electoral violence are mitigated in Kaduna and beyond.”
