Nigeria’s headline inflation has maintained it’s upwards swing in 2026, rising from 15.69 per cent in April 2926 to 15.93 in May.
This is the third consecutive month of sustained rise in inflation in 2026.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its May 2026 consumer price index (CPI) report released on Monday, said the headline inflation rate on a month-on-month basis in May 2026 however, dropped to 1.75 per cent, which was 0.39 per cent lower than the rate recorded in April 2026 (2.13 per cent).
On a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate stood at 15.93 per cent, when compared to 15.69 per cent and 26.06 per cent recorded in April 2026 and May 2025; respectively.
