Hilda Baci: Nigerian chef targets 100hrs new world record for longest cooking marathon
Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci has set herself 100hrs as she plans to set a new world record for longest cooking by a single person.
Hilda Baci had early Monday morning broken the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual cook.
By 08:32am on Monday, Hilda Baci had cooked for 88 hours and 32 minutes to equal the record which was previously set by an Indian chef, Lata Tondon.
Tondon on her own part had achieved the feat after cooking for 87 hours, 45 minutes and 00 secs back in the year 2019.
Hilda carried on despite having broken the record as she stated that she planned to cook for 96 hours, thereby setting a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such an amount of time cooking.
The Nigerian chef, however, made a U-turn at 4pm as she disclosed that she is now fully ready to reach 100 hours of marathon cooking.
Recall that she had actually launched into the competition on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at exactly 4pm when she put on her gas cooker.
The Cookathon has garnered attention both online and at the physical venue where celebrities have been trooping in to support the chef.
