How FG can end insurgency in Nigeria – Shehu Sani
“The insurgency is a common tragedy to the nation. Partisanship can only sustain the inferno. The opposition should be patriotic and support the FG to secure our country,” Sani said on Sunday.
“And the FG must be humble enough to admit that they have no monopoly of wisdom and strategy to combat the menace. The solution is not in Chad,Cameroun or Niger,” he added.
Sani’s advice follows the killing of over 100 soldiers of the 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele, Borno State on November 18.
President Muhammad Buhari while reacting to the killings of the soldiers said there will be need for international collaboration among states fighting terrorism as the security challenge has taken a global dimension.
In his address, the president reassured Nigerians of his continued commitment to their security and of his efforts to sustain the momentum in the previous significant successes recorded against the terrorists.
But the lawmaker in his advice has maintained that the solution to exile the insecurity in Nigeria doesn’t lie in the hands of foreign countries but Nigeria herself.
“It’s also not in Paris, London or Washington. The solution is right here at home; adequate funding, equipping and welfare of our troops,” Sani said.
Sani, therefore, affirmed that the social security and insurance for the families of the deceased soldiers is also necessary to improve the resilience and faith in the battle.
