Setting the digital identity process on track will ensure effective implementation of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) within the stipulated period, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has said.

The agency’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, while hosting the Nigeria Digital ID4D Project Team in Abuja, called for concerted efforts.

He highlighted broadband penetration and digital identity among critical areas to the attainment of digital economy.

Inuwa added that to achieve positive outcome with regard to digital economy, there was need for connectivity and identification of consumers and providers of services.

In a statement, yesterday, the DG informed the team that NITDA’s mandate of developmental regulation is in line with what ID4D is actually working on, promising them the agency’s full support.

He said collaboration between NITDA and ID4D, as well as other relevant partners was welcome.

Inuwa reiterated that government could not do it alone, hence the need for ID4D to assist in whatever way it can for Nigeria to achieve digital identity and implement policies and mandate.

Earlier in his address, the Coordinator, ID4D Project, Musa Odole Solomon, appreciated NITDA’s efforts in sanitising the Nigerian digital space.
