IDPs camps record high turnout

Internally Displaced Persons

The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Borno State were flooded with thousands of electorate yesterday, despite low turnout of voters recorded in Maiduguri metropolis.

The overwhelmed camps include; the Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies (MOGOLIS), Teachers Village, Bakassi and Sanda Kyari Primary school.

At the Bulabulin Ngarnam polling unit (005), electoral personnel were idle as election materials could not be utilised, because there were no voters on queue, two hours after polling centres were opened.

It took the intervention of Governor Kashim Shettima at his Kukawa polling unit, Lamisula-Jabbamari, who embarked on “house to house” mobilisation of voters at
10.35am.

Shettima alongside the gubernatorial candidate, Prof. Babagana Umara travelled to Mafa town, for the latter to cast his vote.
