The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora Road, being reconstructed and dualised at the cost of N1.8 trillion, will boost trade, agriculture and create jobs.
In a statement yesterday, the minister, who flagged off the road project in Bida, Niger State, described the highway as a major investment in Nigeria’s economy, connecting communities to markets and opening economic opportunities across the state and beyond.
Therefore, Idris urged residents and communities along the route to cooperate with the contractors, protect the right-of-way, and safeguard public infrastructure to ensure the project’s completion.
Also speaking on the same occasion, the Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Senator David Omahi, commended some state governors across the country for their road infrastructure development, attributing it to what he described as the positive reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration aimed at improving citizens’ livelihoods.
Stating that the president was currently constructing a total of 5,500 kilometres of new and ongoing road projects, he commended Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State and the governors of Adamawa and Anambra states for collaborating with the administration to deliver impactful road projects.
Also, Governor Mohammed Bago thanked President Bola Tinubu, saying that the infrastructural interventions would strengthen the state’s economy and improve the lives of its people.
