World Igbo Congress, WIC has condemned political manipulations and deceitful measures adopted by Igbo governors. The Chairman of WIC, Prof. Anthony Ejiofor, expressed concern over the worry generated by mischievous behaviours in the corridors of power, which have become instruments of destruction for groups, who do not wish to see Igbo given their due honour and pride of place in the Nigerian experiment.
In a statement, which was made available to The Guardian, the group said: “The abandonment of duty has caused serious leadership vacuum in Igbo land, where politicians have become weakened by the same political apparatus, prescribing service to a horse race at the detriment of Igbo people.
“This act from Soludo to wreak havoc against his kinsman is what Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State did to the former governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, accusing him of not supporting the release of Nnamdi Kanu as a sitting governor.
“Soludo has remained caught up in ordinary Nigerian politics and refused to wake up. He is drowning in the same ocean of confusion with his fellow political class.
“WIC, in concert with its organs and affiliates around the world, condemns Soludo’s recommendation.”
According to the Public Relations Officer of WIC, Basil Onwukwe, misguided leadership is the reason for instability in Igbo land, noting that it is until Igbo begin to hold politicians accountable, the leadership space will continue to be occupied by self-serving Igbo leaders.
