IGP promotes officers for gallantry, cracking high profile crimes
As a prelude to his directive that the reward system be reintroduced in the Police force, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has
decorated eight Senior Police Officers elevated to the next rank for their gallantry and ability to crack difficult criminal cases in the country.
The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) Don Awunah, was also decorated with the new rank of acting Commissioner of Police (CP).
Among those decorated are acting CPs Bello Ahmed, who is in charge of anti-riot police (ComPol-MoPol), the Police Mobile Force, Hafiz Ahmed, who is in charge of the IGP-Intelligence Response Team and Donald Awunah, the FPRO.
Others are acting Assistant Commission of Police (Ag.ACP) Abba Kyari, who leads the IGP-IRT Operatives on missions, and is reputed to have resolved most of the kidnapping incidents in the country and arrested the suspects.
Adamu Bakori and Kolo Yusuf, as well as Superintendent (SP) Abdulkareem Yusuf, the IGP’s Personal Assistant.
Idris said the conduct and devotion of these officers in their various departments in performing their responsibilities have been exemplary.
While congratulating the promoted officers, the IGP said the need to reward deserving officers couldn’t be overemphasized.
