Former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has charged youths in the 27 councils of the state to shun consumption of illicit drugs and substances, such as Crystal meth, popularly known as Mpkuru mmiri.

He gave the advice, yesterday, at a civic reception organised by the Oke-Uvuru people in Mbaise, Imo State, for outstanding personalities of the area.

Ihedioha, who is former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, reminded the youths of the devastating effects of illicit substances, including the risk of madness, stressing that as future leaders, it is demeaning for them to engage in abuse of hard substances.

While presenting an award to Nigeria’s ambassador to Ethiopia, Innocent Iwejuo, the former governor urged the youths to emulate the envoy and other awardees in the state.
