The Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor, yesterday said the inauguration of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in the ministry was overdue.

She stated this at the commissioning of a nine-member committee in Abuja, explaining that the exercise was coming rather late, as “most corrupt practices are reported in the procurement sector of most ministries.”

Ikeazor, therefore, advised the panel to be proactive in discharging its duties as well as be tactful.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, said though it was long over due, she, however, added that the move was in line with the aspiration of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
