The Ikoyi Baptist Church has donated three waste disposal bins to Lord’s Own Estate for easy disposal of waste by residents and passersby within the estate.

Dignity Homecell Leader of the church, Christianah Adamu, who is also a landlord in the estate, said the frequent reports by Chairman of the estate, Aje Akinyele, on littering of dirt and waste in the community pushed the initiative.

Akinyele, who had always condemned indiscriminate disposal of waste by some residents in the estate, urged them to register with the PSP, and stop burning refuse and indiscriminate disposal of wastes within the estate.

He said: “This is what governance is all about. I was shocked when I got a call on Sunday about this donation. It is not everything the government will do for us. We also have our own responsibilities either as individuals, fellowships, schools or non-governmental organisations.”

Akinyele further said that sensitisation of residents on the importance of cleanliness would not stop, urging members of the community to donate more to the projects to aid the growth of the community.
