I’m satisfied with my tenure as Jigawa gov, says Abubakar
Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Abubakar, has no regrets about his performance as governor; expressing optimism that posterity will continue to remember his exemplary and inclusive administration in the Northern state.
During an interactive session with journalists in his office, yesterday, Abubakar said his All Progressives Congress (APC) administration performed tremendously in the execution of numerous projects across the 27 local councils of the state.
“That is why I have no regrets about my two term stewardship, as the good people of Jigawa are still cherishing and respecting my dignity,” he added.
The governor asserted that he fulfilled all the promises he made while campaigning and even did additional projects and programmes that improve the social and economic life of Jigawa citizens.
He said: “I believe, and the general public will bear witness, that our APC administration has put in place so many infrastructure that made the state investor-friendly, with access road to every community.
“We are the first in terms of access to potable water in Northern Nigeria and second in the country. Our agricultural outputs were increased by over 100 per cent and also our educational performance has improved by over 60 per cent. Our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by over 100 per cent.”
According to Abubakar, his regime erected a minimum of one health facility in each of the state’s 287 political wards, while its policy on free education/scholarship for girls tripled in terms of school enrolment and prompt payment of bursary to students.
“Our infrastructure and human capital development indices are a clear manifestation of how we utilised the little resources we earned in the last seven years for the betterment of our people.
“Thank God, our people are appreciating our leadership. This made it possible for me to go round the state asking people for more votes to APC again,” the governor said.
He reiterated his commitment to bequeathing a healthy treasury to his successor.
