As Imo State marks its golden jubilee anniversary, the Managing Director of Shekinah British International School, Ihiagwa, Owerri, Dr. Obinna George Smart Unegbu, has urged citizens to renew their commitment to unity, peace and excellence.

Unegbu also advised Imo indigenes to uphold positive values and remain dedicated to building a viable state that reflects the vision and aspirations of its founding fathers.

He made the call on Tuesday in a goodwill message to Governor Hope Uzodimma and the people of Imo State as part of activities marking the state’s 50th anniversary.

The educationist commended Governor Uzodimma for what he described as laudable achievements, noting that the administration is repositioning and rebuilding the state for future growth.

“I, Chief Dr. Obinna George Smart Unegbu, Arịrị Erimba I of Ihiagwa Ancient Kingdom and Managing Director of Shekinah British International School, Ihiagwa, warmly felicitate with His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, and the good people of Imo State on the golden jubilee celebration of our dear state,” he said.

“As an Imolite and an educationist, Imo at 50 holds deep meaning for me. It reflects our collective resilience, rich heritage and unwavering hope for a greater tomorrow.

“I commend Governor Uzodimma for his leadership and sustained efforts in repositioning the state through infrastructure development, security enhancement and reforms that inspire confidence in the future.”

Unegbu urged citizens to use the milestone as an opportunity for reflection and renewed dedication to state-building.

“At 50, I urge fellow Imolites to renew our commitment to unity, peace and excellence, especially in nurturing the next generation through quality education and strong community values. Together, we can build an Imo State that truly reflects the dreams of its founding fathers,” he added.

He expressed optimism about the future of the state, praying that the coming decades would usher in greater progress, prosperity and pride for all Imo citizens.
