The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kaduna has expressed concern over series of attacks and killings that were reported in parts of Kauru Local Government Area of the State that left scores of people dead.

MACBAN said that the attacks resulted in the loss of innocent lives, destruction of homes, seizure of livestock and severe humanitarian hardship for Fulani pastoral communities.

According to the group, reports received by the Association indicated that “military personnel attached to Operation Enduring Peace allegedly carried out operations on 27th July, 2026, in Kidundum Community, Chawai Chiefdom, and Worfi Community, during which several Fulani houses were burnt, families displaced and a significant number of cattle taken away”.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of Kaduna chapter of MACBAN, Alhaji Abdulhamid Musa Albarka, “the Association is equally saddened by the tragic incident reported on 2nd August, 2026, at Badurun Sama, where Anas Idris reportedly lost his life, Idris Yunusa sustained injuries, while several cattle were killed and others wounded.”

He said, “of particular concern is the information available to the Association that 258 cattle allegedly taken during the operations have been traced to personnel attached to the Sector 7 Command of Operation Enduring Peace at Zango Kataf and are presently being kept in the custody of the Ardo of Zango District, Alhaji Ayuba Haruna Yero, pending further directives. ”

“While we acknowledge that the cattle may have been placed in safe custody, we respectfully urge the relevant authorities to ensure that verified owners are reunited with their livestock without unnecessary delay through a transparent and lawful process”, he added.

Albarka pointed out, “the Association has formally submitted a comprehensive incident report to Senator Uba Sani, Executive Governor of Kaduna State, seeking urgent Government intervention, a thorough investigation into the incidents, the release of the recovered cattle to their lawful owners, compensation where appropriate, and the constitution of a high-level fact-finding committee.”

Besides, he remarked that “MACBAN is particularly disturbed by what appears to be a disturbing pattern in which innocent Fulani settlements are allegedly bearing the brunt of security operations.”

“Reports before the Association indicate that residential houses belonging to law-abiding Fulani pastoralists have been set ablaze, families rendered homeless and their means of livelihood severely disrupted.If established after investigation, such actions cannot be reconciled with the constitutional mandate of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, he stressed.

According to him, “the Nigerian military is a national institution established to defend the sovereignty of Nigeria and protect all citizens without distinction based on ethnicity, religion or occupation. Every Nigerian, irrespective of background, is entitled to equal protection under the law.”

Albarka continued, “MACBAN wishes to make it abundantly clear that it holds the Nigerian Armed Forces in high esteem and acknowledges the immense sacrifices made daily by the overwhelming majority of officers and soldiers in defending the nation against terrorism, banditry and other security threats.”

He said, “our concern is not with the institution itself, but with those few bad elements, if the allegations are established, who may have abused the authority entrusted to them by allegedly targeting innocent Fulani communities, burning civilian homes and depriving law-abiding citizens of their property.”

He warned, “any security personnel who turns his weapon or authority against innocent civilians because of their ethnic identity, or who participates in the destruction of civilian homes and livelihoods without lawful justification, acts contrary to the Constitution, contrary to the ethics and rules of engagement of the Nigerian Armed Forces, and contrary to the values of justice and professionalism upon which the military is built. Such conduct, if proven, does not represent the Nigerian Army; rather, it undermines its honour, professionalism and the confidence which Nigerians repose in it.”

“The Association therefore calls upon the military high command to thoroughly investigate these allegations and ensure that any officer or soldier found to have acted outside the law is held accountable in accordance with military regulations and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Accountability for individual misconduct is essential to preserving the integrity and public confidence enjoyed by the Armed Forces”, he added.

Also, Albarka said, “the Association wishes to draw the attention of Government to growing security concerns surrounding the activities of illegal mining operators within Kamaru District, Chawai Chiefdom, following the earlier attack on Naridon Community by unidentified armed persons.”

He argued, “While the motive for that attack remains a matter for investigation, MACBAN believes that any criminality associated with illegal mining deserves urgent attention in order to prevent further violence and safeguard all communities. MACBAN remains unwavering in its commitment to peace, national unity and the rule of law.”

He said, “we urge all our members to remain calm, refrain from reprisals and continue to cooperate with the Government and all security agencies while lawful investigations are undertaken.We respectfully call upon the Kaduna State Government, the military authorities and all relevant stakeholders to act swiftly in the interest of justice, accountability and lasting peace.”

“We are confident that a transparent investigation and appropriate remedial measures will not only provide justice to the affected communities but will also strengthen public confidence in the professionalism and impartiality of our security institutions. Justice for the innocent, accountability for the guilty and peace for every community remain the surest foundations for a secure and united Kaduna State”, the statement added.
