IOD inducts 96 fellows, calls for synergy between private, public sectors

The Institute of Directors (IOD) has called for synergy between public and private sectors to achieve a better result. Speaking with journalists at the induction ceremony of 96 Fellows into the institution in Victoria Island, Lagos, IOD President, Yemi Akeju, said: “Nigeria is moving to a new level in corporate development and we lay more emphasis on corporate governance, transparency, accountability and fairness to all concerned in our business practices.

“It is important if you are to attract foreign investment, as investors would like to see the leaders of private sectors as very honourable people committed to transparency, good governance.

“Essentially, we are in a position to encourage best practices in the private and public sectors.” Regarding his expectations from the inductees, he said: “If we can get people to subscribe to the idea and value, you will find out that gradually we will improve our society.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, who was one of the inductees, called on the public sectors to take a cue from how the public sector operates and upgrade successfully.
