JAMB registers 1.7m candidates for UTME



The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) said it has deployed all necessary machinery for the successful conduct of the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) holding from May 13-20, 2017.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede while briefing newsmen at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja yesterday, said the examination body was determined to ensure that all registered candidates were given the opportunity to participate.

A total of 1,736,571 candidates applied for the examination, out of which 1,731,039 were the actual registered candidates for the examination. The figure is 464,287 more than the 1,287,284 candidates that registered last year.

The examination would hold in 634 centres across the country, compared to 534 centres where examinations took place during the 2016 UTME.
