Jigawa approves N3.5bn for school rehabilitation projects

The Jigawa government has earmarked N3.5 billion for construction and rehabilitation of basic and post basic schools in the state.

Dr. Nura Ibrahim, Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, and Mohammed Alhassan, his counterpart in the Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban and Regional Planning, said this in a statement on Friday in Dutse.

The statement said the fund was approved during the weekly State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held in Dutse.

It said the SEC approved N2.5 billion for construction, renovation, procurement of teaching materials and sanitation services in basic schools across the 27 local government areas of the state.

The statement said the council also approved over N1 billion for renovation of schools damaged by windstorms.

It further said the council endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the Institute of Charted Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) student special project center in Dutse.

According to the statement, the agreement is a collaboration between the ICSN and the state government.
