Jonathan, Lawan, others for Wakil’s book presentation

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is among many dignitaries billed to grace the presentation of “Political Party Governance,” a book authored by erstwhile Minister of State for Power, Dr. Mohammed Wakil.

The event holds at NAF Conference Centre, Kado, Abuja, on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10:00am. While Jonathan is the Special Guest of Honour, Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, is chairman of the occasion.

Also expected at the book presentation are Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum as Guest of Honour, ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Salisu Alfa Belgore as Father of the Day, while Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Democratic And Legislative Studies, (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, is chief host.

One-time Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja, Prof. Nuhu Yaqub, is book reviewer and the chief launcher/presenter is Chief Diana Chen, Group Chairman of CIG Motors Company Limited, Lagos, even as former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima, has been picked as the guest speaker.

Wakil, a lawyer, chartered administrator and corporate governance practitioner, has extensive experience at all levels in the field of politics, having attained the position of National Vice Chairman (North East) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He was in 1999 elected to the House of Representatives, representing Damboa, Gwoza and Chibok Federal Constituency of Borno State.
While at the Green Chamber, “The Leader,” as his colleagues fondly called him, was at the enviable age of 34 years when was elected as House Majority Leader between 1999 and 2003.

A fellow of many institutes and international bodies, the Borno indigene has also participated in various election monitoring missions both locally and internationally.

He is a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Union (CPU) and a lecturer on Political Party Governance at the Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies, Abuja (an affiliate of University of Benin). He has published several articles on corporate Governance, Political Party Governance and Investment Law.
