A group, Jukun Development Association of Nigeria (JDAN), has congratulated elder statesman and former minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, on his 80th birthday.

National President of the association, Chief Benjamin Bako, in a statement, extolled Danjuma’s virtues, describing him as a towering personality and a philanthropist with a heart of gold.

He noted that the entire Jukun race would forever be grateful to Danjuma for his foresight, forthrightness and dedicated service to the country, both as a military top brass and a committed and strong advocate of democracy.

Bako recalled that Danjuma helped to build the Jukun brand as a major cultural force, adding: “His larger than life personality, which traverses military, business and philanthropic initiatives, has continued to reverberate across the length and breadth of Nigeria and the African continent.

“The association and indeed the entire Jukun people owe Danjuma deep gratitude for all he has done for them.”

He said the association has dedicated its annual thanksgiving and end-of-the-year party in honour of the former minister’s birthday, promising to name its new secretariat under construction after him.
