Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai, has confirmed a rift with his successor, Governor Uba Sani, saying it is fueled by a conditional cash transfer from President Bola Tinubu.
El-Rufai made this known as Sani dismissed any rift with his predecessor when he appeared on TVC on Monday.
According to Sani, their relationship is very cordial and there is nothing wrong with it.
Sani went on to rubbish the coalition of opposition and its plans to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.
He said, “Most of these politicians that came out and say they are coming as coalition, they are politicians that were in government only less than two years ago. What did they do when they were in government? They were only fighting for power, not because they could do anything better.
“No president in the history of Nigeria has really practised democracy like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Reacting, El-rufai stated that Sani is a ‘sycophant’ inspired by the N150 billion he got from the Federal Government.
“Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling, I used to wonder why?” El-Rufai posted on X.
“However, confirming that the Federal Government ‘reimbursements, interventions and grants’ in excess of N150bn have been given selectively to Kaduna by Tinubu, in the last 18 months, now explains everything.
“By all means, defend Asiwaju for the conditional cash transfer. Asiwaju has earned it, coming from you. The people of Kaduna State will judge at the right time and place. Have a nice day.”
The animosity between El-rufai and Sani began after the Kaduna State House of Assembly claimed that the former governor’s eight-year administration allegedly siphoned ₦432bn leaving the state with huge debt liabilities.
