Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, has challenged his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, has challenged his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Uba Sani, to declare his position on the recent sack of over 2,000 teachers in the state by Governor Nasir el-Rufai.

According to him, Sani, who represents Kaduna Central in the Senate, cannot remain mute on the anti-people policies, which have sent several people in the state to their early graves.

Speaking through the Isa Ashiru Campaign Organisation, yesterday, the PDP candidate said: “We, hereby, challenge Kaduna APC gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Uba Sani, to make his position clear on the recent sacking of over 2,000 teachers and the planned demolition of Gwari Market, Rigasa, as well as the demolished Saminaka Market in Lere Local Council.”

The Director of Public Affairs, Ashiru Campaign Organisation, Yakubu el-Saed, stated: “It has become necessary if Sani wants to convince the people of the state that he will not toe the draconian way of governance by Governor el-Rufai.

“It may be recalled that el-Rufai has once said that whoever will succeed him in APC will be more destructive than him. Therefore, Sani’s silence over this irrational decision has sent an open signal that he will, indeed, continue with the current policies of el-Rufai. That may be why his slogan is continuity and consolidation of el-Rufai’s policies.”

The organisation advised Kaduna people to be cautious in choosing between humaneness and cruelty come 2023.

It disheartening to note that this singular act has completely destroyed primary education in the state. Available statistics have shown that the rating of Kaduna in terms of the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) has never been as bad as during the tenure of el-Rufai. One may keep wondering what he actually wants to achieve?”
