…As Trinity House set to hold 24-hour praise programme in Lagos

Senior Pastor of Trinity House, Ituah Ighodalo, has urged Nigerians to prioritise thanksgiving and praise to God rather than focusing solely on personal needs and requests.

Ighodalo said many Christians approached God mainly to seek solutions to their problems, including financial difficulties, marital challenges, childlessness and other personal concerns, without sufficiently appreciating what God had already done for them.

He made the call while delivering the keynote address ahead of the 24 Hours of non-stop praise and worship, organised by Trinity House.

The programme, tagged Power of Praise 24 (POP24), will bring together music ministers and worshippers from across Nigeria and beyond which will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, November 7, and end at 12 noon on Sunday, November 8, 2026.

The event will be held at the Zion Centre, Trinity House, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, with a live YouTube broadcast for participants unable to attend physically.

The programme is being organised at a time when many families are facing difficult circumstances, offering an opportunity for people to come together in praise and worship.

Themed, “The Spirit of the Almighty”, with reference to Isaiah 11:2. The programme follows the 24-hour edition held in November 2024, themed “The Anointed”, and a three-hour edition organised in March 2026.

According to Ighodalo, the initiative was established to dedicate uninterrupted time to worship and appreciate God for His goodness, mercy and provisions.

He said the church had resolved to set aside at least one day annually for 24 hours of non-stop praise, with plans to extend the initiative to different parts of the world.

“We serve a God that has done everything for us. He created this earth, created the universe and provided everything that we need for life and living.

“I said this cannot continue, we are not worshipping God enough, and we therefore decided that we would dedicate at least one day a year to worship God for 24 hours non-stop,” he said.

Ighodalo explained that the programme was designed to encourage believers to thank God for creation, the provisions of life, the gift of existence and the ability to make independent choices.

He identified the opportunity to have a relationship with God for eternity as another reason believers should remain grateful, irrespective of their circumstances.

The cleric also urged Christians to trust God concerning their challenges, noting that many problems already had solutions even before people sought divine intervention.

“Be anxious for nothing, because your Father in heaven knows exactly what you need even before we ask. So we thank Him for even the problems that He has already found solutions for,” he said.

Citing the biblical account of King Solomon, Ighodalo recalled how Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings to God in appreciation before receiving an opportunity to ask for anything.

He said Solomon chose wisdom to serve God rather than wealth, political power or personal gratification, adding that the account demonstrated the importance of genuine thanksgiving.

Ighodalo expressed hope that the current edition of the programme would attract God’s blessings and inspire believers to develop a deeper attitude of gratitude.

He said the thanksgiving gathering was also significant for Nigeria, particularly as the country approached another election cycle in 2027.

According to him, the timing was deliberate, as the church intended to thank God for the outgoing year and seek His guidance and protection for the year ahead.

“This year, 2026-2027, is a peculiar year for the history of Nigeria. We’re thanking God, and by God’s grace, the election next year will go well,” he said.

He prayed for peaceful elections, credible political processes and the emergence of the right leaders, while expressing hope that the country would be spared violence, deaths, destruction and attacks during the electoral period.

The pastor also called for peace across the world, saying the programme was an opportunity to worship God and seek divine intervention for Nigeria and other nations.

He reiterated that the central message of the initiative was to encourage people to appreciate God for His goodness rather than make personal requests throughout the period of worship.

Chairman of the planning committee of Power of Praise, Deji Popoola added that the church’s annual 24-hour praise programme is an opportunity for Nigerians to dedicate a full day to thanking God without asking for anything in return.

Popoola said the initiative was designed to appreciate God for His goodness throughout the year and usher in the New Year with thanksgiving.

He explained that the church organises different praise sessions, including three-hour, six-hour and 12-hour programmes, depending on the leading of the Holy Spirit.

According to him, the 24-hour praise is traditionally held towards the end of the year as a way of thanking God for the outgoing year and committing the new one into His hands.

“We have a three-hour praise, a six-hour praise. Sometimes, as the Spirit leads, we have a 12-hour praise. And towards the end of the year, to open the heavens of the new year and to thank God for that particular year, we have the 24-hour praise,” he said.

The programme features Pastor Tosin Alao, Chandler Moore, Min. Uchenna Okereke, Ernieola Olusoga, Chigozie Wisdom, Kent Edunjobi, Apekeola, BJ Sax, Bidemi Olaoba, Yinka Alaseyori, Blessing Lopez, Dare Justified, Chinyere Udoma, Deborah, Emmanuel, Kleb Shout, Shola, Olusayo Orodele, Alabba and Peterson Okopi, with a host of other music ministers. Power of Praise also remembers Minister Toluwanisings, who ministered at past editions and was billed to minister this year before he passed on.
