Kano receives 66 Europe-bound Nigerians from Niger

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received, from Niger Republic, no fewer than 66 Europe-bound Nigerians. They arrived Kano in a luxurious bus under the care of International Organisations on Migration (IOM).

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received, from Niger Republic, no fewer than 66 Europe-bound Nigerians. They arrived Kano in a luxurious bus under the care of International Organisations on Migration (IOM).

Receiving the returnees, yesterday, in Kano, Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Nura Abdullahi, said the immigrants decided to voluntarily shelve their intended cross-border journey to different European countries.

According to him, most of the people involved are from the North and will be trained for one week and given a token to establish and be self-reliant.

Already, NEMA had mobilised personnel from Directorate of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and Red Cross to witness the arrival of the persons from neighbouring Niger Republic.

The agency also mobilised some doctors to check the health status of the returnees and provided them with toiletries and food items.
