Over 300, 000 direct and indirect jobs may be created in the state, if the KOWA Party is voted to power.

The party’s governorship candidate, Thompson Osadolor, said this yesterday, while addressing youth organisations in Benin City.

He said the jobs would be created through mobile networks, agriculture and artisanship.

While noting that agriculture has the potential to create wealth for over a million people within a short time, he, however, said a new mobile telecommunication network would be set up as a state enterprise.

Osadolor explained that the new mobile network was necessary to stop the exploitative nature of the existing ones.

He added he was already having talks with some investors who have expressed interest in supporting the project.

The candidate said: “The mobile network may seem an uphill task to accomplish, but discussion is already at an advanced stage to ensure its take-off.”

He said though it would be privately managed, the state would have a substantial stake in it.

“The idea is that apart from the fact that it would end the era of exploitation in the industry, thousands of direct and indirect jobs will be created,” he said.

Osadolor, who said he was worried that Nigerians are paying so much to make calls even on the same network, said the proposed KOWA Mobile, would be toll-free within the same network.

He said: “Another benefit of the network is that it would become cheaper to have all educational institutions, including secondary schools, connected to WIFI.”

On agriculture, the governorship candidate said the KOWA Party would launch an agricultural revolution, by declaring an emergency in the sector to diversify the economy.
