KOWA Party has pledged commitment to true federalism as part of its manifesto for 2019 general elections.

KOWA Party has pledged commitment to true federalism as part of its manifesto for 2019 general elections.

The National Secretary, Mark Adebayo, disclosed this at the party’s policy conference yesterday.

He explained that KOWA party is the only political party to have presented a woman as its standard-bearer in the 2015 presidential elections.

Adebayo stressed that the party called for the devolution of power “to assuage the mass feelings of marginalisation and political injustice across the country.”

Also, eminent historians yesterday expressed support for restructuring, describing it as a solution to the amalgamation of 1914.

The book “Nigeria: A New History of a Turbulent Century” was authored by a British journalist-turned historian, Richard Bourne.

The scholars, who spoke at the event, were Prof. Bolanle Awe, Prof. Olutayo Adesina, Mr. Ademola Adesola and Dr. Sharon Omotosho of the University of Ibadan.

According them, a faulty foundation was laid for the structure of the country when the then British Governor announced the amalgamation of both protectorates to become one country in 1914.
