The Kwara State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, has commended Operation VELVET for enforcing traffic laws in the state.
The enforcement aligns with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The operation is a continuous enforcement initiative aimed at ensuring strict adherence to traffic laws, promoting responsible driving, enhancing road safety, and protecting the lives and property of all road users across the state.
The operation will focus on ensuring that all motorists obey traffic regulations and that vehicles on the roads have valid, legally required documents, including proper registration and other relevant papers. Motorists are therefore advised to ensure that their vehicles and documentation are in order before taking to the roads.
In a statement on Tuesday, the police said that any motorist found violating traffic laws or operating a vehicle without the required legal documentation will face appropriate sanctions under existing laws and due process.
The commissioner of police urged motorists and other road users to cooperate with police personnel, obey traffic regulations, and drive responsibly, assuring members of the public that the command remains committed to safer roads, protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of peace and public order across Kwara State.
