The Kwara State Police Command is investigating the alleged attack on a man by three hooded gunmen in police uniform, who reportedly made away with millions of naira.

The police’s spokesperson, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, said in a statement on Thursday that the alleged incident was reported in the media but that the victim or anyone with information about the incident had not come forward to the police.

“Meanwhile, the command is using this medium to inform the public of her security arrangement, which makes it largely difficult for a citizen to be robbed in the city centre an in the daytime without police detection,” Ajayi said.

Ajayi noted that the intelligence arm of the command has started piecing together information that could lead the victim to narrate the circumstances of the incident but regrettably, there has been no information to date except those in newspapers and social media.

The spokesperson said the command was using the opportunity to remind the public of the importance of reporting incidents to the police promptly for necessary action.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, CP Victor Olaiya, had directed a discreet investigation into the rumour and ensured that justice was done if it was confirmed to be true.
