A Magistrate Court in Bolade, Oshodi, on Monday granted bail to a 70-year-old man, Kayode Otitoju, who was accused of damaging a fence being built by the Lagos State Government in Lekki Phase 1.
Otitoju was arrested on Sunday and brought to court on two charges for vandalising the fence near a canal setback being undertaken by the State Government.
During Monday’s proceedings, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges preferred against him.
His counsel, Oluwaseun Ettu, applied for bail, urging the court to grant it on the most lenient terms due to the defendant’s age and health.
The court agreed and set the bail at ₦200,000, with one surety. The surety must show tax receipts for the past three years and prove their home address.
The case has been adjourned to July 25, 2025, for trial commencement. Otitoju has not yet met the bail conditions and remains in custody.
