AS part of efforts to encouage water transportation and improve safety on the Lagos inland waterways, Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), yesterday, commenced the year 2021 lifejacket distribution exercise at the Epe Division with distribution of over 500 lifejackets to riverine schools, boat operators and market women from the coastal communities in Epe.

General Manager of LASWA, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, who spoke at the event, said the state government had embarked on a series of policy reforms, programmes and investments to promote and facilitate water transport provision to realise its potential to become an attractive mode of transportation.

He said that the LASWA embarked on the programme to help residents, both old and young, cultivate the habit of wearing lifejackets.
