Lagos, NGO to grant 21,000 kids free surgeries
The Lagos Government and Healthcare Mission International (HMI) are to offer free surgeries to 21,000 children during the state’s six-day health mission that kicks off today.
The Permanent Secretary, Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Tayo Lawal, made the disclosure at a briefing to intimate residents, especially parents, on the need to leverage the opportunity.
According to him, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is inaugurating the project with children aged 12 and below.The Executive Director of HMI, Mrs. Nike Osa, said the prioritisation of the project informed its opening by the governor.
She noted that the programme was to strengthen children for the future. Osa added that the screening was democratised, as residents could visit designated seven healthcare centres within and outside Nigeria.
