LASCOHET matriculates 445 students

Welcoming the new students, Provost of the College, Dr. Moyo Kasim, said the institution’s emphasis is on training well-grounded healthcare workers, entrepreneurs and industrialists to meet challenges of nurture and serve as positive influence in society.

The Lagos State College of Health Technology [LASCOHET] has formally admitted 445 students at its 19th matriculation ceremony held recently at the college premises in Yaba. The students were drawn from seven different schools, comprising Environment Health Technology, Community Health, Health Information Management, Medical Laboratory, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy and Complementary Health Sciences.

Welcoming the new students, Provost of the College, Dr. Moyo Kasim, said the institution’s emphasis is on training well-grounded healthcare workers, entrepreneurs and industrialists to meet challenges of nurture and serve as positive influence in society.He disclosed that LASCOHET has secured the approval of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on both financial and administrative autonomy and for it to start the physical transformation of the college.

“The college have equally received positive response from the National Board for Technical Education [NBTE] to start National Diploma [ND] in both Environmental Health Technician and Health Information Management programmes, as well as full accreditation for the Schools of Medical Laboratory Technician and Pharmacy Technician programmes.

“We also teach Sign Language and our students are pioneers in all the health colleges and we hope to start school of Morbid Sciences,” he explained.Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, who was special guest at the occasion, acknowledged the college as one of the oldest health technology in Nigeria.Adebule congratulated the matriculating students and wish them resounding success in their academic pursuits.
