LAGOS State Government has flagged off a four-day integrated drivers care initiative for professional drivers, targeting at least 10,000 beneficiaries with drug screening, substance abuse awareness, eye examinations and corrective glasses.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport and Logistics, Hassan Adekoya, who launched the programme yesterday, said it was in line with the state’s THEMES+ agenda, with a strong focus on traffic safety, drivers’ training, health and social inclusion.
He added that the initiative would be executed in different locations across the state.

He said the programme, which began yesterday, at Lilly Pond Truck Terminal, would be taken to different terminals and parks and reflects the state government’s commitment to people-centred governance in a bid to improve overall road safety, wellbeing of transporters, human dignity and prevent accidents.
RELATEDLY, a leading global ride-hailing platform operating in nine African countries, inDrive, has hosted the drivers on its platform at an appreciation event in Lagos.

The event, designed to celebrate and recognise the dedication, professionalism, and everyday impact of drivers on its platform across Nigeria, brought together 50 platinum drivers in an interactive, relaxed, and enjoyable atmosphere that reflected inDrive’s people-first culture.
The Country Representative of inDrive Nigeria, Oladimeji Timothy, while speaking on the significance of the gathering, said the appreciation event forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to building a strong, respectful, and trusted driver community across Nigeria, anchored on fairness, partnership, and shared success.

Oladimeji said that part of the reason for organising the event was to elevate drivers’ experiences by introducing the inDrive Drivers Academy, which would bring value to them.
