To mark its 13 years anniversary and also give back to Nigerians, Lashone Group has rewarded clients and other participants with lands, farm produce and other gifts.
The group with over 10 other registered subsidiaries, at its 13th annual Stakeholders Meeting with the theme ‘Business Globalisation Exceptionalism’, in Lagos, through a raffle draw gave out lands worth millions of naira to two individuals and rewarded over fifty others with livestock and many other gifts.
Speaking at the event, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Lashone Group, Dr. Lanre Shonekan, said the group which first started as a company, came into existence out of the desire to build a business capable of providing jobs for others and to raise young entrepreneurs who will help reduce the problem of unemployment across the country.
He said: “It started as a real estate firm and a business school was established as our firm thrived. The school was to train people for free. I partnered with Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) to send a minimum of 200 people there every year, including the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. We are strengthening the economy through youth empowerment and job provisions. This is one of the ways we give back to society.”
Shonekan said the vision continues to grow as he mentors others and sponsors young people in different vocational skills and business development.
The Lashone boss spoke about the reality of unemployment in the country and encouraged young people not to be discouraged but to look inward and discover their strength.
He said aspiring entrepreneurs should not be putting money first when starting a business, but be focused and create a niche for themselves.
“Create a niche for yourself, be resilient. Don’t allow any obstacle to be an impediment. Look for something to do while you’re looking for that job. If there is a field you want to enter, look for a mentor,” he advised.
Sharing the progress the group has made since its inception, Shonekan said it has expanded to many countries such as the United Kingdom, Ghana, South Africa, and the United States.
The event was attended by clients, real estate and security experts.
