Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) will celebrate its Fourth Founder’s Day on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the College of Agriculture Main Auditorium, Ikorodu Campus.

The yearly event provides an opportunity to reflect on the university’s achievements since its establishment and to discuss strategies for its future development.

The celebration, themed, ‘Mapping the Future,’ will highlight LASUSTECH’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development.

The highlight of the day is the Founder’s Day Lecture, which will be delivered by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Adenike Temidayo Oladiji. He will speak on ‘Achieving the Objectives of Universities of Science and Technology.’

The day’s programme will also include interactive sessions, activities celebrating the university’s progress, and tours of its growing infrastructure.

The celebration is part of LASUSTECH’s efforts to foster a strong academic community and make a significant contribution to national growth.

LASUSTECH was formally established in 2022 following the transformation of Lagos State Polytechnic into a university.

The move was initiated and signed into law by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, as part of his administration’s vision to expand access to higher education in science, technology, and innovation.

The transformation aims to position Lagos as a hub for technical manpower and research.

The pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, was appointed to lead the institution at its inception. Under his leadership, the university began with 37 approved academic programmes across five colleges – the College of Agriculture, the College of Engineering Technology, the College of Environmental Design and Technology, the College of Basic Sciences, and the College of Applied Social Sciences.

Since its founding, LASUSTECH has steadily expanded its offerings and now provides 42 accredited programmes.
This growth reflects the university’s rapid development and commitment to providing quality education in science and technology fields.

The university received its Certificate of Operating Licence from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on February 8, 2022 and admitted its first set of students in the 2022/2023 academic session.

Since then, it has continued to strengthen both its academic programmes and physical infrastructure.

According to the Director of Information and Public Relations, Lanre Kuye, the Founder’s Day Celebration is a platform for the university community and stakeholders to engage with LASUSTECH’s vision and achievements.

He emphasised that the event also highlights the university’s role in producing skilled graduates who can contribute to national development.
