To avert boat mishaps, due to heavy downpours in Lagos State, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has sent out stern warnings to ferry operators and passengers to adhere to safety precautions to avoid any incidence on the waterways.

In a statement, the General Manager of LASWA, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, warned all boat operators to frequently observe weather conditions and ensure their ferries are in good condition before sailing.

According to him, LASWA is intensifying efforts at ensuring regular monitoring and safety compliance on the waterways.

“The agency has also commenced its bi-annual boat condition survey across all jetties. The exercise, which started on July 7, 2021, was part of efforts to continually guarantee the safety of waterways users in the state,” he said.
