LAUTECH ranks 10th in Nigeria, collaborates with Kentucky varsity on engineering programmes

For the umpteenth time, the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has been named one of the 10th leading universities in Nigeria.

The ranking list also confirmed the institution as the best state university.The proclamation was made by Times Higher Education (THE), which examined 1,799 universities across 104 countries.

The ranking is based on 13 performance indicators, which include teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

In another but similar development, an online publication, Just Events, releases what it called Nigeria’s best universities 2023, listing a total of 12 institutions in which LAUTECH still ranked the only listed state-owned university.

Meanwhile, LAUTECH has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Kentucky, Lexington, U.S., in the area of transnational programmes.

The collaboration is geared towards having qualified Ph.D. candidates from seven engineering programmes of LAUTECH do their research and academic programmes in Kentucky. It is aimed at enhancing the development of staff and students and improve LAUTECH’s international ranking.

The Engineering courses included in the arrangement are Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, among others,

LAUTECH’s Director in charge of International Office, Prof. Timothy Ipoola Olabiyi, explained that the new relationship seeks to establish and recognise a formal connection between the two institutions.

He listed other engineering courses to include Chemical and Agricultural Engineering.
