The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, yesterday, said 94 of its graduating students that bag First-Class honours in this year’s convocation could compete with the outstanding graduates anywhere in the world.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rasak Olatunde Kalilu, while justifying the award of the first-class honours, and vouching for all the 11,528 graduands of the institution, said that they were trained to stand out globally.
Kalilu stated this during a media briefing to herald the 17th convocation ceremonies and 35th Founders’ Day anniversary of the institution.
The vice chancellor said the trajectory and performance of the products of the institution in the labour market lent credence to the fact that they merited their degrees.
He maintained that LAUTECH products working in companies, government establishments and other outfits are giving good account of themselves, stating that this showed the level of competence of the graduates the university churned out yearly.
The professor also disclosed that AdeladunBadiratAdeduntan from the Department of Science Laboratory Technology is the best graduating student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.86. He stated that the university has continued to run academic programmes in 13 faculties, but this year’s 11,528 graduates are products of 12 faculties.
