Lawyer alleges plot to kidnap him

A lawyer Inegbeboh Davidson Odiahi has accused some members of the the ruling party of attempting to kidnap him and his family.

Odiahi said he is scared for his life and the safety of his family.

He said he has been persecuted for criticizing government and allegedly making defamatory statements against former Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole.

The lawyer said he has resisted pressure from law enforcement agents to desist from the representation of his client one Dr. Samson Isibor who is perceived as an “enemy of the State” and threats from several other persons who are known thugs of the government.

Odiahi said he told the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) during an interview that the police officers and their agents have always been hostile to him.

He claimed that he has been receiving threatening phone calls from people posing as agents of the government.

He said he was later chased two unmarked cars an attempt to kidnap him and his children while they were in school.

Odiahi claimed he was being trailed after he won a case against the Nigeria Police and land grabber in Edo State in June 2017.

According to him, the commissioner of Police had filed five charges against one John Okoduwa before the Magistrate Court siting in Ubiaja Magisterial District, Edo State, Nigeria.

In the charge no. MUB/9C/2014 the accused person was arraigned before the court on a five count charge of : conspiracy, compelling action by assault, assault, breach of peace and contempt of court contrary and punishable under Sections 516, 367, 81 and 133(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 48 vol. II Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as now applicable in Edo State.
