Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has called for the speedy passage of the Whistle Blower Protection Bill.
Speaking yesterday a one-day capacity building workshop on whistle blowing and the fight against corruption in Ibadan, the anti-graft czar, who was represented by the Ibadan zonal office’s Head of Legal and Prosecution Department of the agency, Dr. Ben Ubi, argued that the non-existence of a law to protect whistle blowers was impacting negatively on the policy and the entire anti-corruption crusade.
The event was organised by the African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) for community-based organisations on whistleblowing. In his welcome address, AFRICMIL Coordinator, Dr. Chido Onumah, said the Ibadan edition was the third in their effort to galvanise community-based organisations and civil society groups nationwide.
