Masari receives 23 ‘slaves’ in Katsina

Governor Aminu Masari has received 23 Nigerians who were sold as ‘slaves’ in Burkina Faso.

The victims include an old man, 13 males from Kankara council area of Katsina State and 10 aborigines of Zamfara origin.

Before now, seven other victims had been assisted to return to the country, bringing the total number to 30.

The affected persons were said to have been tricked into slavery after one Alhaji Usman sold them to a female trafficker in neighbouring Benin Republic before she later offset them to another trafficker in Burkina Faso.

The said Alhaji Usman is now at large, but security agents are said to have his mobile numbers.
