Social commentator and businessman, Isaac Fayose, has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is losing its grip on Ekiti State following the large turnout that greeted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate during a recent political event.
Reacting to videos and images from the gathering, Fayose said the crowd’s response showed growing support for the PDP ahead of the governorship election, insisting that the ruling APC should be worried by the development.
According to him, the turnout reflected increasing public interest in the opposition party and signaled that the political atmosphere in the state may be shifting ahead of the polls.
Fayose argued that the reception given to the PDP candidate demonstrated the strength of the party’s grassroots support, despite claims by some political figures that the PDP no longer has influence in the state.
He maintained that the enthusiasm displayed by supporters at the event suggested that the governorship contest would be more competitive than many expected.
The businessman further stated that the election should not be judged solely on political calculations or endorsements, stressing that the people of Ekiti would ultimately decide who governs the state through their votes.
His comments come amid increasing political activities and campaigns ahead of the Ekiti governorship election, with both major parties intensifying efforts to win support across the state.
