Miyetti Allah spokesman condemns ban on open grazing

A spokesman of the Miyetti Allah in Portharcourt Branch Alhaji Abubakar has described the ban of open grazing in Southern Nigeria by the governors in the region as an “empty policy”.

According to him, the Miyetti Allah spokesman, who condemned the ban, said the herders were also victims of the insecurity in the country, adding that, Nigeria belongs to all of us, and that no person or Governor can tell them where to stay or where not to stay.

Abubakar said, “We condemn it, it is totally unacceptable to us. You can’t ban our business without providing ranches. Let them create ranches for us, we don’t have the land, we are ready to ranch, let them create the enabling environment for us, anything short of this, is totally unacceptable to us, and we shall resist with all our might.

He stated that “the ban is an empty policy because it has no basis. He said, “if the Governors create ranches and ask us to go there, we will go there but they can’t wake up one day and say they are banning our business.

“If the governors are stopping them from grazing, they are preparing for confrontation and fierce. Their action is a declaration of war on the herders.”

According to him, if the Governors stop their legitimate business, he said they will not hesitate to challenge them.

He wished President Muhammadu Buhari,, the acting IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, CP Rivers State, the Governor of Rivers State, Macban Portharcourt Branch, and all her members and herders in other parts of Nigeria, Chief Imam FCT Abuja, the Chief Imam of Rivers State chapter, and Nigerians in general, a prosperous and united Nigeria.
