A Lagos monarch, the Oniba of Iba, Oba Suleiman Adeshina, has lauded the election of the former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, as the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Lagos West Senatorial District.

“However, I want her to see her victory as a reflection of the confidence reposed in her by the electorate, hence, she must work harder not only to justify this but to also ensure that she doesn’t disappoint them.”

The monarch, however, tasked politicians to eschew violence and play politics of ideas to win the hearts of the electorate, saying: “I want to seize this medium to urge politicians across all political parties, especially those who lost their party tickets, not to resort to violence to settle political scores but to work harder next time to get their party’s nod.

“The use of violence to gain political relevance is wrong and an aberration to civility, which remains a key attribute of a good democracy.”
