Civil liberties group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has formally requested to visit the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, who is currently in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
The request was contained in an August 18 letter to the ICPC by the Abuja branch chairman of MURIC, Ustadh Salahudeen.
The group listed its Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, Salahudeen, and the Abuja branch Assistant Secretary, Shehu Lemu, as its proposed three-man delegation.
El-Rufai, who has been in the ICPC custody since February 16, 2026, has spent approximately six months and two days as of August 18, when MURIC submitted the letter.
He filed a fresh N10 billion fundamental rights suit against the ICPC over the agency’s alleged denial of access to his wife and son to visit him in custody.
