Former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has revealed that his heart was with President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 election, despite being a member of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Akpabio, who was the senate minority leader before his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke yesterday when he led Akwa Ibom leaders to visit Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He revealed that throughout PDP’s 16 years in office at the federal level, there was no federal road project in the state.

The former chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) boasted that Akwa Ibom would be the first state from South South that would be won by the APC in the 2019 general elections, stressing that nothing remained of the PDP in the state since he joined the APC.

According to him, over 266,000 new members have registered with the APC after him while some other people dumped the PDP.

“I believe strongly that facts speak for themselves.

For the calibre of personages you saw today, the strength and the character of the delegation, it is very clear that President Muhammadu Buhari will win Akwa Ibom State landslide come 2019 general elections.

“I can predict that the first state in Nigeria to fall to the APC in 2019 presidential election is Akwa Ibom. No one can controvert this.

I still speak with authority because I have my people’s backing to pronounce what I have just pronounced.

Victory is for APC and victory is for Mr. President come 2019 in Akwa Ibom State,” he added.

On the acclaimed lopsided appointments by the Buhari government, he said as a new member in APC, his primary concern was to ensure victory for the president in 2019.
