The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has advised residents of Maiduguri not to panic over night flights in the city. Squadron Leader, R. E Obi-Obasi of the 105 Composite Group, gave the advice yesterday in a statement in Maiduguri.

He explained that the nights flights are “routine flying training exercises to secure the metropolis and environs” from Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State.

Obi-Obasi stressed that the explanation became necessary, following the fear expressed by the residents over the flights.

He urged the people to feel protected and not to panic whenever they hear the sound of the aircraft at night.
