Nasarawa threatens to ban commercial tricycles, motorcycles
Nasarawa State government has threatened to ban commercial tricycles and motorcycles in the cities over their flagrant violation of sanitation laws.
The Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Yakubu Kwanta, stated this while addressing journalists after the monthly sanitation exercise in Lafia, at the weekend.
According to Kwanta, the level of compliance with sanitation laws by residents across the state has risen due to the aggressive awareness by the ministry.
His words: “Nasarawa is next to Lagos on implementation of sanitation laws. Our challenge is the commercial tricyclists and motorcyclists, who are not complying.
“We will talk to their associations and if they remain adamant, we will ban them from operating in the state.”
The Chief Prosecutor, Abubakar Mohammed, also told journalists that 76 sanitation offenders were arrested over non-compliance across the state.
He urged residents to take advantage of the exercise to clean up their surroundings, including drainages.
